History:
Rabdentse served as the second capital of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814, after the first capital, Yuksom, was abandoned. Founded by Tensung Namgyal, the second Chogyal (King) of Sikkim, Rabdentse flourished as a center of power and culture. However, the kingdom faced repeated attacks from the Gurkha army, leading to the destruction of the capital and its eventual abandonment. Today, the ruins stand as a testament to Sikkim's vibrant past, offering visitors a poignant reminder of the rise and fall of kingdoms.
