History:
The construction of Taj-ul-Masajid was initiated by Sultan Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal, but it was interrupted by her death in 1901. Construction was resumed in 1971 by Allama Mohammad Imran Khan Nadwi Azhari and completed in 1985. The mosque's design was inspired by the Jama Masjid in Delhi and the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. Its construction was a testament to the Begums of Bhopal, who were known for their progressive rule and patronage of the arts and architecture.
