Description:

Top Station is a scenic viewpoint located in the Kannan Devan Hills of Munnar, Kerala, India. It is situated at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys, hills, and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. The area is known for its lush green landscapes, rolling hills, and the Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once every twelve years. Top Station is also a popular destination for trekking and hiking enthusiasts.

History:

Top Station derives its name from its historical role as the uppermost railway station on the Kundala Valley Railway, a narrow-gauge railway line built by the British in the early 20th century to transport tea and other goods from Munnar to the plains. The railway line is no longer functional, but the remnants of the old station and the tracks can still be seen. Top Station was also a significant location for the tea industry, with several tea plantations established in the surrounding areas.
