Patnitop is a hilltop tourist location in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, 112 km from Jammu. Patnitop's history is intertwined with the Dogra rulers of Jammu and Kashmir. Originally known as 'Patan Da Talab' meaning 'Pond of the Princess', legend says a princess used to bathe in a pond located here. Over time, the name evolved to Patnitop.
