History:

Chamera Lake is an artificial lake created in 1963 after the completion of the Chamera Dam, a hydroelectric project on the Ravi River. The dam was built to harness the river's power for electricity generation, and the resulting reservoir formed the lake. The project led to the submergence of the original Chamera village, and the inhabitants were relocated. Over time, the lake has transformed into a popular tourist spot, attracting visitors with its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. It contributes significantly to the region's economy through tourism and power generation.
