History:

The Chail Cricket Ground was established in 1893 by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. After being banished from Shimla by Lord Kitchener, the then Commander-in-Chief of the British Indian Army, for eloping with Kitchener's daughter, the Maharaja decided to create his own summer capital in Chail. As part of his grand plans, he commissioned the construction of this cricket ground. The ground was carved out of the hilltop and meticulously leveled. While cricket matches were occasionally held here, the ground was primarily used for polo and other recreational activities by the Maharaja and his guests. Over time, the ground became a significant landmark of Chail, attracting tourists and cricket lovers alike. Today, it stands as a testament to the Maharaja's vision and the rich history of Chail.
