Chakratirth Beach derives its name from the mythological story of Lord Krishna's Sudarshan Chakra supposedly landing here after killing a demon. This event is believed to have created a circular depression or 'chakra' in the ground, giving the beach its name. The Gangeshwar Temple, situated near the beach, is also linked to this legend. It is said that five Shiva lingams emerged naturally at this spot.
