History:

Established in 1964, Saddle Peak National Park initially covered a smaller area. It was later expanded to protect the diverse ecosystem surrounding the peak. The park plays a crucial role in conserving the unique biodiversity of the Andaman Islands, which are considered a biodiversity hotspot. While the indigenous tribes inhabiting the surrounding areas have historically interacted with the forest, the park now focuses on conservation and regulated tourism to minimize human impact.
